REDESIGNING EURO RODS
FOR NEW ZEALAND TROUT
Each area of the blank is intentionally created to deal with a specific purpose, enabling the angler to make effortless presentations. It has a fast action, yet displays a smooth transitioning action throughout the length due to the custom designed taper. The rod loads smoothly and quickly into a solid mid area, resulting in Euro nymphing tool that is ideal for delicate situations, whilst maintaining precision, casting authority and power when needed.
The smooth, sensitive tip is designed to cast lighter flies, detect subtle bites and help with tippet protection. The middle area is intended to to give backbone and stability to the rod and to take the force of casting long-distance Euro rigs with quick recovery and to further help with tippet protection. The lower area is designed to to support the middle region, and to give power and control over strong fish. With all these parameters in mind, the aim at KiwiNymphNZ was to design rods that are simultaneously delicate and powerful.
QUANTUM ELITE 10' 4" #3
Reimagining Euro nymphing fly rods New Zealand Tongariro
The Quantum Elite 10’ 4” #3 weight rod is designed for moderate weight nymph rigs on typical New Zealand rivers in a range of conditions yet having a reserve of power to land large fish.
The tip is equivalent to a #2 weight with the finesse to cast medium weighted flies from 3mm or 3.5mm tungsten beads accurately.
Extended range Euro methods with casts up to forty feet are possible.
It was designed with a broad range of rivers in mind such as the Whanganui, Whakapapa, Rangitikei, Ruakituri and Mohaka as it has
the ability to control strong fish.
The ultralight guides on the Quantum Elite #3 weight are wrapped with rich brown thread, chosen to blend stealthily with the blank.
QUANTUM POWER 10' 4" #4
The Quantum Power 10ft 4in #4 weight fly rod is designed primarily for swift
heavy rivers in winter such as the Tongariro and the Tauranga Taupo.
The rod, whose tip is equivalent to a #3 weight, has the ability to cast medium weighted flies from 3.5mm or 4mm tungsten beads up to heavy split shot rigs with long casts up to fifty feet, and bring large fish to the net in fast water.
This is especially useful for extended range Euro methods in large rivers and high-water winter conditions.
It is also ideal for larger rivers such as the Whanganui and Whakapapa, Rangitikei and Mohaka, for controlled presentations of heavy Euro rigs long distances over turbulent current seams.
The ultralight guides on the Quantum Power #4 weight are wrapped with
olive thread, chosen to blend stealthily with the blank.
